The Story Behind The Stories
Hi, I'm Adrián Fares. For over 20 years, I have explored the edges of storytelling from a unique perspective, living with hearing loss and severe tinnitus.
On this Substack, I share serialized novels, short stories, poems, microfiction, and existential essays.
Writing keeps me alive. Maybe it started with the tiny stories my aunt María told me as a child, in her small room.
One of her most memorable stories: A woman walked to work every day, and a man who was not right in his mind would walk fast behind her, following her. One day she just stopped. The man saw another woman walking ahead, crossed the street, and started following her instead. Sometimes the solution isn't running or hiding — it's just stopping.
My Storytelling Journey
My storytelling spans multiple mediums - screenwriting, filmmaking, and fiction writing. As a screenwriter and director, my feature horror screenplay won the Blood Window Award at Marché du Film (Cannes Film Festival), and my documentary "Mundo Tributo" screened at international film festivals. Whether through film or prose, I'm drawn to stories that explore the edges of human experience. The places where reality gets strange and survival becomes an art form.
